Home of the Great Migration
The Serengeti is not just a national park — it is a living legend. Spanning 14,763 square kilometres of endless plains, acacia-dotted savannah, and rocky kopjes, this UNESCO World Heritage Site hosts the greatest concentration of large mammals on Earth and the most spectacular wildlife event: the Great Migration.
Each year, over two million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebra and gazelle, undertake a perilous 800-kilometre clockwise journey following the rains across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The thundering river crossings at the Grumeti and Mara rivers, where crocodiles lie in wait, are among the most dramatic spectacles in the natural world.
But the Serengeti is extraordinary in every season. The southern plains host the calving season from January to March, when half a million wildebeest calves are born in a few short weeks — attracting predators from every corner. The resident prides of lions, elusive leopards draped over sausage trees, and coalitions of cheetahs sprinting across the open plains make the Serengeti the undisputed Big Five capital of Africa.
From the vastness of the central Seronera valley to the remote wilderness of the northern sector, from hot-air balloon safaris at dawn to bush dinners under the Milky Way — the Serengeti delivers a safari experience that no words, photographs, or films can ever truly capture. You have to be here.
